Tribal Odisha
The beautiful state of Odisha is located in eastern India. A large portion of the state’s population consists of sixty-two Scheduled Tribes, which are defined in the Indian constitution.
Due to social change and westernization, the process of acculturation has progressed rapidly through these indigenous societies, changing the tribes’ traditional life styles, economic traits, political organization, norms, values and world view.
This ongoing series shares images that capture scenes of everyday tribal life that reflect cultural vestiges of the past before these defining traits disappear into the pasteurization of modernity.
