Caibarien

Caibarien (pop 38,064) is located in the Villa Cara province on the north coast of Cuba. The town used to be one of the biggest and busiest port-cities in Cuba, serving as a shipping point for agricultural commodities, such as sugarcane, tobacco, and fruit. However, the town is now in disrepair due to lack of restoration and use. Its major sugar mill (Reforma) has been turned into a museum for tourists who flock to its beaches, such as the Cayo Santa Maria.
