As we talked, Laura could not stop smiling. She and Joe made their decision to get married the night before. Her sister Kathy had caught the first plane out of Colorado and brought with her a piece of Chantilly lace from their mother’s wedding gown. Kathy’s daughter, a costume designer, worked all night to make Laura’s wedding veil. Laura’s best friend loaned her a favorite pair of earrings; they were made with blue-colored gems. Despite the seeming suddenness of their decision, Laura had everything she needed for her wedding.
