Vegetable Vendor – Varanasi, India

She was selling potatoes, tomatoes and squash from a narrow ledge set just above the lane, deep in the maze of the old city. Although dressed beautifully, her eyes and hands indicated a life lived with little comfort. Unable to tell each other our stories, I still wonder about hers.
