Johannesburg is South Africa’s largest and most populated city with approximately 3.9 million residents. With the largest economy of the country and thus Sub-Saharan Africa, the city has many nicknames: Jo’burg, Jozi, Egoli or the city of gold, the last a reference to the foundation of Johannesburg’s development as the economic hub of South Africa: some of the worlds richest gold fields.
