Met a very nice young lady on the way to see the Rila Monastery in Bulgaria (more about the monastery later). Her name is Silvia and she has a wonderful honey stand along the road, just outside of the restaurant at which we stopped for lunch. Although Silvia declined to have her picture taken, she told me all about her stand. Her parents make the jams and gather the honey she was selling. She had pine honey and walnut honey – the specialties of the region – AND bee pollen! She recommended a blueberry jam to me as she told me “it is very healthy”. Also, I could not resist the nut and fig confiture. I have sampled all of my treasures – they are delicious! Thank you Silvia! Please tell your parents thank you for such wonderful treats.
